Is CocoFuego a Christian rapper???

Hey guys, I'm backkk with another exciting blog post.. This post is monumental in understanding me as an artist and a person.. So yeah, a friend called me this week and we were talking about my music and the lyrics/songs that I put out. Then the question came up, "so are you a "Christian rapper?" Dun dun dunnnn... The answer is always tough but let me explain.. The title Christian rapper carries a negative weight to it. Most people think of a christian rapper as an artist that makes music that only people in the church will listen to and enjoy. In addition they are expected to mimic rap styles of current popular rappers and attempt to sell half hearted God focused lyrics over poor quality beats.. In other words they are in a box and limited to a particular audience. That IS NOT what I hope to achieve in my musical career. This is no put down to Christian rappers, they have their importance too, but the music industry also needs people who will step outside of their comfort zones and be willing to connect with everyone and not just Christians. That IS what I hope to achieve in my career.

So back to the question, No I am not a Christian rapper. But I am a rapper that loves God and very unashamed of my relationship with Christ. While most rappers choose to glorify money, I would rather give honor to the One above. Is every song I make gonna preach at people? No. But will I be afraid to give God props in my lyrics? Never!

If Jay Z can tell me that there is no church in the wild, then I can tell Jay Z about Gods mercy to protect me in the wild. If that makes me a Christian rapper, then that makes Jay Z an anti-Christian rapper. Now you see how unfair that sounds?

So the conclusion? Don't put me in a box! I just aim to make high quality music with thoughtful lyrics. If you don't want to invite me to your church because I put out something that isn't laced with bible verses that's fine, and if you don't want to play my music on your radio station because I mention God, that's fine too... That's the cool thing about FREEDOM and EXPRESSION if you don't like something, you don't have to listen to it.

Wow...How about those Giants...

Ok kiddos i've got more treats (mmm treats)... Did you hear my new song Giants? It's pretty intense... That's not quite what this blog is about though.

When I wrote this song it was about 2 months ago, I got it half way finished and stepped away from it.. Came back about 2 weeks ago and finished it off...

Ok now for the interesting part.. this year we have Tigers vs. Giants in the world series!! Which is completely unrelated to my song.. Oddly enough even the picture of the crossed out Giants logo was selected even before the world series match up was scheduled to take place. How cool/weird is that?

So yeah, that's all I wanted to say.. Tigers have to win the series now! The fate of my musical future predicting rap skill is at stake..

Welll.... That's about all there is I want to reveal about myself right now.. Muawhahaaha....

So yeah.. Welcome to my blog. I will be updating it frequently as I often have alot to say and I can't say EVERYTHING on the mic. So this is where I'll be getting things out. Don't worry I'm more of a shrink than a patient so don't look forward to many gun toting rants.
